Manila, Philippines – The EMB National Capital Region in partnership with the NCR Water Quality Management Areas (WQMAs) – MaNaTuTi River System (RS), Las Pinas-Paranaque RS and San Juan RS and CARE-ACCORD held its General Assembly on August 25, 2020 via Zoom meeting attended by Heads and Focal Persons for Solid Waste, Liquid Waste, Habitat, ISF and DRRM from the 15 LGUs namely, Caloocan City, Malabon City, Navotas City, Quezon City, Valenzuela City, City of Manila, San Juan City, Mandaluyong City, Las Pinas City, Makati City, Muntinlupa City, Paranaque City, Pasay City, Taguig City and Bacoor, City.
Atty. Domingo M. Clemente, Jr., EMB NCR Regional Director greeted the participants and expressed his appreciation for the effort of all the LGUs in the continuous fulfillment of their roles as members of the WQMAs where they belong inspite and despite the present pandemic situation. In turn, he assured them of EMB NCR and its partners’ strong support towards the realization of their goals and objectives.
Presentations on the activities undertaken by each WQMA was delivered by their representatives – for LPPRS Mr. Felix Catigay, LGU Taguig, for SJRS Mr. Jasper Manabat, LGU Mandaluyong and MaNaTuTi RS representative, Ms. Beth Gutierrez, LGU Malabon, she likewise, presented to the body the MaNaTuTi RS WQMA Action Plan.
Engr. Mavic Quides, Chief AMS-EMED presented the updates from EMB NCR on the activities the office has accomplished since March. Mr. Jayson Umali gave his reaction to the presentations as a member of the 3 WQMA and shared the efforts of the City of Manila as regards its dynamic involvement to the governing boards.
CARE-ACCORD through Ms Erica Bucog and Ms Mutya Camba who hosted, facilitated and gave the synthesis of the activity. Engr. Jean Borromeo, OIC, Chief EMED thanked all the participants explaining the importance of observing the minimum safety standards set by the government and following safety protocols especially when doing clean ups.
