September 3, 2019 — Earlier this year EMB National Capital Region launched the Regional Search for Cleanest and Greenest LGU (Model Barangay on ESWM), this aims to recognize and reward LGUs for successfully implementing Ecological Solid Waste Management and to influence and inspire other LGUs so they would adopt the best practices of Solid Waste Management.

There are twelve (12) barangays who joined the regional search and only nine (9) were shortlisted to become the finalist; Brgy. Ususan of Taguig City, Brgy. Bagumbayan North of Navotas City, Brgy. Dampalit of Malabon City, Brgy. East Rembo of Makati City, Brgy. 159 of Pasay City, Brgy. San Isidro of Parañaque City, Brgy. 164 of Caloocan City, Brgy. Bayanan of Muntilupa City and Brgy. Holy Spirit of Quezon City as the 2019 Cleanest and Greenest LGU Model Barangay on ESWM in NCR.

Brgy. Holy Spirit received a plaque of recognition and two hundred thousand pesos cash prize (Php 200,000.00) courtesy of the National Solid Waste Management Commission. The awards were presented by EMB-NCR Regional Director Atty. Domingo M. Clemente Jr., EMB-NCR SWMD Chief, Mansueto G. Bolivar and the Founding President of Philippine Alliance for Recycling and Material Sustainability (PARMS), Crispian Lao. The awards were given during the Environmental Summit 2019 at SM City BF Parañaque.
