MANDALUYONG, Metro Manila – Environmental Management Bureau – National Capital Region headed by Regional Director Atty. Domingo M. Clemente, Jr. in collaboration with Effective Microorganism Research Phils., Inc. (EMRPI) conducted a Bioremediation Activity at Maytunas Creek, Mandaluyong City on Thursday, January 14, 2021 in the second year celebration of Battle for Manila Bay which is celebrated every January 29.
During the event, officials from DENR offices and LGU Mandaluyong poured the 150 liters of EM (Effective Microorganism) solution, 40 liters EM.PB (photosynthetic bacteria) solution on the creek’s surface and threw 200 pieces Bokashi balls or mostly known as mud balls. Using the EM technology, polluted water sources can be improved and ultimately may be converted into a water supply source. The said activity will lessen, if not, eliminate E. Coli and the odor of the river system including its tributaries that are draining to Manila Bay.
Among the participants are Barangay Addition Hills Chairman Carlito Cernal, Kgd. Abraham Calamba, Kgd. Danilo Salvador, Mr. Sonny Oblea Jr., Chief, CEMD Mandaluyong, Mr. Jasper Manabat of CEMD Mandaluyong, and Addition Hills Disaster Risk Management Chief Mr. Renato Abapo.
