QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila – EMB National Capital Region through its Ambient Water Unit in partnership with Philippine Coast Guard and Navotas City Local Government Unit conducted MOA Signing for the Installation of Water Quality Monitoring Equipment (WQME) at Navotas Tanza Marine Tree Park via Zoom Meeting App on Friday, May 7, 2021.

Navotas City Mayor, Hon. Tobias Reynald M. Tiangco conveyed his opening remarks to the attendees of the said event.

Philippine Coast Guard – Maritime Safety Services Command, Rear Admiral Artemio M. Abu delivered his message of commitment to participate and contribute to the rehabilitation of Manila Bay and to watch over the water quality monitoring equipment (WQME).

EMB Director and concurrent EMB NCR Regional Director, Engr. William P. Cuñado, represented by EMB Regional Director Martin Jose V. Despi conveyed his keynote address and EMB NCR Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division OIC, Engr. Jean C. Borromeo presented the updates on WQME before the MOA Signing proper. DENR NCR Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan is also present on the event and gave her closing remarks.

The installation of Water Quality Monitoring Equipment will help in the monitoring of water quality at Navotas Tanza Marine Tree Park without the need for actual physical water sampling or human intervention while transmitting accurate real-time monitoring data to the office. The said equipment is also useful in reducing the risk of exposure while doing water sampling, as we live with the reality and challenges of COVID-19 pandemic.
