QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila – Environmental Management Bureau – National Capital Region conducted a webinar on Environmental Laws Updates and Youth in Climate Action in celebration with World Environment Day and  Philippine Environment Month with the theme “ Sama-samang Pagkilos, Sama-samang Paghilom: Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalikasan” on Friday, June 25, 2021, via Zoom Webinar App.

EMB Regional Director Martin Jose V. Despi conveyed his welcome remarks to the speakers and participants of the webinar and emphasized the action being taken by the office towards the environmental degradation that is happening in our country.  He also encouraged the participants to be part of the action in saving our natural resources.

Speakers of the said webinar are Environmental Management Specialist II of Ambient Air Unit, Mr. Juhn Martin Bobis who discussed air pollution, air quality guidelines, and the initiatives being performed by the Ambient Air Unit in Metro Manila’s air quality in his presentation on Updates on RA 8749 or the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999; Ambient Water Monitoring Unit Head, Ms. Jennilyn Vicente who explained the importance and role of Clean Water Act and the different programs, activities, and updates under the Ambient Water Quality Management in her presentation on Updates on RA 9275 or the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004; Solid Waste Management Section Senior Environmental Management Specialist, EnP. Alma Ferareza discussed the cycle of waste generation and the possible adverse effects of improper solid waste management on people’s health and the environment in her presentation on Updates on RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000; and EnP. Liz Silva, Senior EMS from Climate Change Service of DENR CO who discussed climate change and its impacts, youth, and children in their climate action, and the adults’ support to them in her presentation on Youth in Climate Action

The online learning event was attended by various participants from the 17 NCR Local Government Units from the environmental offices, teachers from different schools, selected EMB NCR office employees, and the private sectors. A total of 500 attendees participated in the said webinar.
