EMB National Capital Region in collaboration with DENR-NCR conducted a three-day Zoom Webinar on Solid Waste Management on January 20-22, in celebration of Zero Waste Month with the theme: “Bouncing Back from the Pandemic to a Greener and Healthier Environment.”

DENR Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Units Concern Benny Antiporda, DENR NCR Regional Executive Director Jacqueline Caancan and EMB NCR Regional Director Atty. Domingo M. Clemente, Jr. also gave their messages to the speakers and participants of the said webinar. They also addressed the emerging problems on solid waste management in the Philippines where segregation-at-source still need to be practiced and strictly enforced.

Resource Speakers include Environmental Management Bureau Solid Waste Management Division OIC Ms. Maria Delia Cristina M. Valdez, who discussed the Salient Points of Ecological Solid Waste Management of RA 9003; Ms. Nelie Dimer of EMB SWMD who discussed and gave a live demonstration of Composting and Edibles Gardening; and Upcycle Philippines Founder Ms. Ma. Adavieve Mella Lasam who informed the participants about Upcycle and how it helps the environment.

The online learning event was attended by various participants from the 17 NCR Local Government Units, barangays, DENR Field Office personnel, EMB NCR EnMOs and the private sector.
