The Green Film Festival is a program that is being conducted with SM Supermalls, and is aimed to promote environmental consciousness among community members, especially the youth.
Known as the largest environmental movement to date, the Earth Day Celebration aims to increase environmental consciousness of communities worldwide. This year’s theme, “End Plastic Pollution”, aims to address the perennial issue on irresponsible consumption that manifests on the indiscriminate disposal of plastic materials in our surroundings.
We, the EMB-NCR, aim to be part of the change that the nation wants to deliver. We recognize that by doing so, there is a need to spark greater realization on how environmental consciousness and change bloom from knowledge. However, the knowledge that the whole DENR aims to impart can only be instrumental if the youth commits to be part of our environmental advocacies.
On behalf of EMB-NCR Regional Director Domingo M. Clemente Jr., Ms. Salvacion Aguinaldo-Solis delivered the welcome remarks which focused on the youth’s cooperation as a vital component in all of the agency’s undertakings. In her opening remarks, Mr. Rebecca Roxas, Education Program Supervisor of Department of Education-Manila mentioned that the environment is concern of everyone and that the responsibility of taking care of it is a shared one, regardless of age, gender, or culture. It is indeed imperative to integrate the participation of the youth in our environmental movements to ensure that our goals are sustained.
A total of 225 participants from selected schools in Manila were present during the event.
