Las Piñas Parañaque WQMA Governing Board Meeting

The Governing Board (GB) of Las Piñas Parañaque (LPPQ) River System Water Quality Management Area conducted a meeting on April 4, 2018 at the EMB NCR Conference Room. The meeting was aimed to review the functions of the different Technical Working Groups of the Governing Board and to discuss the following: 1) the list of donor partners of the tributaries of the LPPQ River System; and 2) the activities of the Governing Board for 2018.

In his speech, EMB-NCR Regional Director Domingo M. Clemente, Jr. mentioned that reviving the country’s water bodies is one of the top priorities of DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu. The designation of Water Quality Management Areas (WQMA), he said, is one of the most strategic ways that the agency is employing to ensure that the provisions of Clean Water Act are being implemented through the collaborative efforts of the different sectors involved. Regional Director Clemente also discussed that the EMB-NCR is focusing its efforts in the formal designation of the LPPQ as WQMA.

GB members present during the event were representatives of DENR-NCR, MWSS, DOST-NCR, DepEd-NCR, CHED-NCR, DILG-NCR, PIA-NCR, DPWH-NCR, HLURB-NCR, NWRB, LLDA; representatives of the Local Government Units of Parañaque, Manila, Taguig, Las Piñas, Pasay, and Bacoor. Manila Water Company, Philippine Plastic Industry Association, Pollution Control Association of the Philippines Inc., AAI Charity Foundation, ASEANA Business Park, and Mach Union Water Laboratory Inc. represented the private sector in the governing board; while Earth Day Network Philippines, Inc. represented the NGO sector.
