On September 17, 2016, a number of Local Government Units in Metro Manila participated in a clean-up activity in esteros/creeks in the areas of Valenzuela, Pateros, Caloocan and Taguig as part of its support to the 2016 National Clean Up involving selected barangays and partner-donors with adopted esteros/waterbodies.

In the National Capital Region, clean-up activities are conducted regularly in adopted esteros under the Adopted-An-Estero/Waterbody Program so that various community members together with the private sector, LGU, National Government Agencies, barangays, including the academe partner together in strengthening the goal of restoring the vibrance of our water bodies.

During the activity, a total of 848 personnel participated in the clean-up where an approximate of 360 metric tons of wastes were collected from the following creeks, namely, Casili Creek, Spine Creek and Tullahan River Creek-Maceda Bridge of Caloocan City; Tullahan River-Mc Arthur Bridge, Paso de Blas Creek, Lingunan Creek, Sapang Bakaw Creek, Daang Malalim Creek, and Viente Reales Creek of Valenzuela City; Sta. Ana Panday Paltok Creek and Pateros River of the Municipality of Pateros and Pinagsama Creek of Taguig City.
