Revisiting the success of Montreal Protocol, another agreement in 2016 called the Kigali Agreement which aims to reduce the manufacture and use of Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) by roughly 80-85%  from their respective baselines, till 2045. The phase down is expected to arrest the global average temperature rise up to 0.5o C by 2100  Metro Manila dealers, resellers and retailers of refrigerants containing HFC (Hydrofluorocarbons) were updated on the result of Kigali Agreement.

Another chemical being eyed upon to substitute HFC is  HFO which stands for hydrofluoro olefin. Following the introduction of HFO is the manufacture of one refrigerant called HFO-1234yf having main characteristics such as :  Low toxicity; Low GWP (global warming potential); GWP = 4; Zero ozone depletion potential; and Low total contribution to climate change.

Metro Manila dealers, resellers and retailers of refrigerants were capacitated in the safe handling of ODS and similar chemicals during the one day training seminar on the Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer held at the conference Room of EMB-NCR on September 28, 2019.
