The EMB-NCR, through its Solid Waste Management Section, provided waste shredders to ten selected barangays in Metro Manila. Said initiative is part of the agency’s goal of strengthening the overall compliance of the region to the provisions of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. Over the years, the EMB-NCR has committed to the implementation of the law at the grassroots level through the barangays to ensure that communities are engaged in proper solid waste management.

The barangays provided with waste shredders are as follows: Brgy. San Miguel in Taguig City; Brgy. Bagumbayan North in Navotas; Brgy. Bagong Silangan, Valencia, Tatalon, Silangan and Mariana in Quezon City; Brgy. Arkong Bato and Dalandanan in Valenzuela City; and Brgy. Parang in Marikina City. Said barangays were also the beneficiaries of Materials Recovery Facilities in 2016.
