“There is no Society if there is no Environment” the adage was adopted by Dr. Ador Querubin of Lakeview Integrated School of Muntinlupa in the video clip presented during the Awarding Ceremony of 2019 Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly School held at Hive Hotel and Convention Place, Quezon City on November 15, 2019.
The awarding ceremony coincided with the celebration of National Clean Air Month, National Environmental Awareness Month and National Climate Change Consciousness Week.
Muntinlupa National High School bagged the Over-all Champion award for High School Category. The school was also the over-all champion in 2017 Regional Search. This year Muntinlupa National High School is also recognized with the Nestle Water Leadership Award. Dr. Florante Marmeto, the school principal accompanied by the Eco-friendly School coordinators Ms. Regaele Olarte and Mr. Jason Albano received the award. Engr. Jean Borromeo, Chief of Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division, EMB-NCR handed the awards on behalf of EMB-NCR Regional Director Domingo M. Clemente, Jr.
Rosa L. Susano Novaliches Elementary School, also brought home honors for being the Over-all Champion for the Elementary Category. Also the school was recognized with the MERALCO Energy Efficiency Award. Mr. Rodolfo Modelo, the school principal together with the coordinator Mr. Ron Diola and other teachers received the award. Mr. Modelo had been a grand slam awardee of the Search when he was assigned at Commonwealth Elementary School (2009-2013)
Two Other Schools also won minor awards: Xavier School, Inc. of San Juan City was selected as winner of the Nestle Water Leadership Award for their initiative to put up Waste Water Treatment Facility that could supply their water needs for the school’s playfield and urban garden.
Lakeview Integrated School of Muntinlupa received MERALCO Energy Efficiency Award with their good practices on the use of their solar lamp posts which enabled the school to save some amount for the purchase of school supplies. The lamp posts were donated by Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City through the school’s engagement with the barangay.
