INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF SOLAR POWERED SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources headed by Secretary Roy A. Cimatu successfully launched the installation of a solar powered Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Manila Yacht Club on Thursday, July 30, 2020.
The Environmental Management Bureau – National Capital Region team headed by Engr. Jean C. Borromeo, Chief of Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division (EMED) were present to witness the activity.
The ambient water quality data of Manila Bay in the Manila Yacht Club area and the initial effluent result of the STP were provided by EMB-NCR. The STP is responsible for treating the intercepted wastewater from the three (3) major drainage outfalls along Roxas Boulevard Baywalk namely: Faura, Remedios, and Abad.
The solar-powered STP is part of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
