Quezon City, Philippines – Environmental Management Bureau – National Capital Region through Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division (EMED) – Ambient Water Unit (AWU) conducted Partners Forum and Awarding of The Adopt an Estero/Waterbody Program partners on April 22, 2022, Friday at Seda Hotel, Vertis North, Quezon City.

The program started with the welcome remarks of the Regional Director of EMB-NCR, Atty. Michael Drake P. Matias followed by the keynote message of DENR-NCR Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan.

As part of the program, three Adopt an Estero/Waterbody Program partners presented their good practices and accomplishments in the forum. Chairperson Filomena G. Cinco, Brgy. Captain of 412 Sampaloc, Manila, proudly shares their achievements in Estero de San Miguel.

Ms. Janice S. Picardal, Health Safety and Environment Manager of Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) showcased the company’s initiatives for the environment and Engr. Orliber Paule exhibits the practices and activities of SM Prime Holdings under the implementation of the Adopt-an-Estero/ Waterbody Program.

Engr. Jean Borromeo, OIC Chief of Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division, EMB-NCR, and Ms. Karen Pacpaco, the OIC Chief of Environmental Education, and Information Division (EEID) of EMB Central Office, presided over the awarding of the Certificate of Recognition to the LGU partners.

MEOs officials/representatives – North MEO Director, Engr. Nolan B. Francisco, West MEO OIC, Ms. Rodelina De Villa, East MEO OIC Deputy Chief Environmental Officer, Florencio G. Diwa, Jr., and South MEO Deputy Chief Environment Officer, Ms.Yasmin Caparas presided over the awarding of the Certificate of Recognition for Barangay Partners, while RD Matias and RED Caancan for the Donor Partners.

The closing remarks of Engr. Borromeo officially ended the ceremony.

The said Adopt an Estero/ Waterbody Program is a collaborative undertaking between and among the National Government Agency, Local Government Units, Business Establishments, and Estero communities. This forum aims to give opportunities for partners to share and exhibit their good practices, innovations, experiences to replicate by others and how the challenges encountered turned into a great option that could inspire other partners to do the same.
