QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Environmental Management Bureau – National Capital Region, through its Occupational Safety and Health Committee – Emergency Preparedness Response Team, conducted a Fire and Earthquake Drill last Friday, September 9, 2022, in compliance with the OSH Program set by the Department of Labor and Employment, Bureau of Working Conditions and Occupational Safety and Health Center.

249 EMB-NCR employees, including pregnant and people with disabilities, participated in the said drill. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine Red Cross facilitated the activity by starting with a lecture on executing the simulation and some techniques for emergency response. BFB also made a demonstration on parallel execution of firefighting procedures.

During the drill, the evacuation team started to assist and instruct the employees to “Duck, Cover, and Hold” and guide them to evacuate the building safely. Selected personnel played a role as injured victims that needed rescue and medical attention.

The simulation aims to build a safety culture in case of disaster and familiarize and re-enforce employees on proper evacuation routes and protocols.

Prior to this activity, EMB-NCR also joined in the quarterly nationwide simultaneous Earthquake Drill held last September 08, 2022, which was also facilitated by Emergency Preparedness Response Team.
