QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Environmental Management Bureau – National Capital Region, Occupational Safety and Health Committee conducted a two-day training on “Working Safely at Heights for Stack Sampling”, on October 17 and 18, 2023, at 3rd Floor Conference Room, EMB-NCR Building, National Ecology Center Compound, East Avenue, Diliman Quezon City.
The training is designed for EMB-NCR’s employees directly involved in stack sampling operations, including Stack Sampling unit members, Safety Officers/Secretariat, selected personnel from Water and Air Quality Management Section (WAQMS) and Ambient Air Unit.
Dr. Junby L. Layaoen, CEO of JLUM Training and Consultancy together with Mr. Ashley L. Uy, Occupational Safety and Health Practitioner (OSHP), discussed the following: Introduction to Working at Heights in Stack Sampling, Fall Hazards, and Risk Mitigation, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Equipment and Safety Protocols, Safe Access and Egress, Fall Prevention and Protection, Emergency procedures, Anchorage Points and Rigging, Stack Sampling Techniques, and conducted Simulated Exercises/Practical exercises.
The said training aims to understand the risks associated with working at heights and apply appropriate control to prevent falls and maintain a safe working environment specifically in the context of stack sampling activity of the Bureau.
