Quezon City, Metro Manila – Environmental Management Bureau National Capital Region, through its Environmental Education & Information Unit (EEIU), conducted an IEC Caravan for Youth at Novaliches High School, Quezon City, on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, as a part of the Youth Involvement in Environmental Protection for May. Selected teachers and students from Novaliches High School participated in the said event.
The event was started by the opening remarks of Novaliches High school Principal IV, Mrs. Zaida M. Padullo. Principal Padullo shared her story on the importance of environmental protection and encouraging the students to become an advocate for the environment.
Resource speakers are Mr. Paul John Tigno, OIC EEIU, who discussed the State of Metro Manila Environment, followed by Mr. Rogelio V. Guaring II from Ambient Air Unit, who presented the RA 8749 or Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999.
Ms. Catherine M. Cayabyab, Ambient Water Unit EMS II, talked about the RA 9275 or Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004. Lastly, Mr. Jose Niño Beltran V of the Solid Waste Management Section lectured on the RA 9003 or Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
The “PAMANA” activity was also conducted and facilitated by the EEIU staff, led by Mr. Paul John Tigno, OIC-EEIU. “PAMANA” aims to understand better how improper waste management ends up in Manila Bay and what we can contribute to saving and rehabilitating Manila Bay and the environment
The event complies with the continuous implementation of the Republic Act 9512, otherwise known as the “Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008,” which is tasked with undertaking the office’s information, education, and communication.
